The only thing better than cruising along the Blue Ridge Parkway is doing so with a parade of BMWs in your viewfinder. This video is from our BMW Road Trip--a 400-mile road challenge from South Carolina to Virginia to test the gas mileage, comfort and dependability of four luxury sports cars and crossover SUVs. The kicker is that two of the vehicles are powered by diesel engines and the other two are standard gas versions. While it was a very cool shoot, it took plenty of work to get the shots we needed. Suction-mounted cameras and wireless mic systems hung in each car to let us see and hear running commentary from the drivers. A camera car was rigged with our EX-1 to get road-hugging shots of the German roadsters at work. And a jib truck was set up to capture overhead beauty shots as the cars swung gracefully through the lethal curves of the glorious mountain scenery. Not a bad way to spend a week!
