The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, PA is a great science museum that pays homage to one of the most notable inventors of our country, Founding Father Benjamin Franklin. So what better place to try out something new? For this project, we needed to capture some jib and dolly footage of the museum's most prominent resident: a 20 foot tall statue of Benjamin Franklin. The trick was, we needed to shoot it for vertically mounted projection behind Big Ben in the museum's Atrium. So we designed the Ringo Head, a camera mount that can be attached to any tripod or jib head to turn the camera 90 degrees while keeping its weight centered over the tripod…because with the camera hanging 14 feet above the ground, you don't want any surprises. This video shows what a portion of the completed show looks like from the inside of the Franklin Institute Atrium.
